今天無意中看到以下這兩篇文章，嚇了一跳。曾經在中華職籃效力宏福公羊隊，目前征戰澳洲NBL聯盟新球隊Gold Coast Blaze的洋將霍克(Juaquin Hawkins)，居然在34歲的年紀發生中風。幸好狀況輕微，但往後的籃球生命已經是打上問號。
Former NBA player suffers stroke

Juaquin Hawkins, who played for the NBA's Houston Rockets in 2002-2003, suffered a stroke and will miss the remainder of Australia's National Basketball League season for the Gold Coast Blaze.
Team officials said Tuesday that Hawkins, 34, is expected to make a full recovery.
Hawkins, who also had four exhibition games with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2004, played in the Gold Coast's win over Townsville on Dec. 31 but did not play against the Melbourne Tigers two days later.
At first Hawkins was thought to be suffering heat stroke and exhaustion, but team officials said further hospital tests indicated he suffered a stroke.
Hawkins, who played in college for Long Beach State, was averaging 13.6 points in 19 games with the NBL's first-year club.
Team officials said Hawkins was resting at his Gold Coast home with his family and has decided to stay in Australia for the rest of the season.
"A stroke is not something you would have predicted especially for such a fit, athletic player like Juaquin," said Blaze chief executive Dave Claxton.
"The facts are that he is out for the season and the doctor is expecting him to make a full recovery. It's a medical thing. Only time will tell."

Juaquin Hawkins出身於加州的Long Beach State大學，前後曾經和NBA球員Bryon Russell，以及都曾來台打過CBA的漢尼伯(Rod Hannibal)、坎普(Brian Camper)同隊。
Hawkins是個標準的籃球浪人，該混過的地方都混過了，LA夏季聯盟打過無數次，大學初畢業先來台灣的CBA找頭路，之後先後打過哈林籃球隊，小聯盟USBL、CBA、ABA，還去過日本JBL、菲律賓的PBA、和澳洲的NBL。他在2002-03球季快滿30歲之際，才在休士頓火箭初亮相，一圓NBA夢，當時還蔚為話題。
他於1996-97球季在宏福公羊出賽44場，平均12.6分、4.7籃板、2.7抄截，該季贏得扣籃大賽冠軍和抄截王。1997-98球季則只出賽3場，平均1.3分、1.3籃板，從此告別台灣。
Hawkins是一個守優於攻的球員，外線實在很抱歉，但速度和協調性都不錯，身高也夠，具備一名優秀防守球員的條件。印象中，他算是個蠻健談的人，但因為攻守數字不太突出，即使在台灣也稱不上是球星級人物，更不是一般媒體會感興趣的洋將。我還記得之前的宏福球隊經理曾說，霍克一天到晚狂打越洋電話，要球隊付錢。
如果不是讀到這則新聞，我也蠻難得再想起這個球員了。身體健康還是最重要的，對於這個和台灣曾結下緣份的球員，無論他還能不能重拾籃球，都還是祝他好運。
